Edmonton's once unlikely quest to win the Pacific Division is now within reach as they face an in-form Utah Mammoth tonight at Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah (9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN).

With such an incentive in play, I'm backing the visitors to make it six wins in seven games in my Oilers vs. Mammoth prediction. The Mammoth are the -128 home betting favorite as they look to consolidate their position as the second wild-card team. With such high stakes, Connor McDavid, whom I feature with my player prop, should be at his best.

💰 Oilers vs. Mammoth prediction & best bet

Oilers ML (+106)

The Oilers beat the Mammoth 5-2 in Utah on March 24, and while I expect a closer game, the visitors should prevail again. Edmonton is playing its best hockey, reeling off five straight wins before falling to the Vegas Golden Knights at home.

The Oilers know that by winning the Pacific Division, they can avoid a first-round matchup against Vegas. If that doesn't motivate them, nothing will.

While the Mammoth won three straight, I can't see them moving from the second wild-card spot. Edmonton should have more desire, and Tristan Jarry, whom I expect to start, played well in Utah two weeks ago.

Score prediction: Oilers 4, Mammoth 2 (+2500)

💡 Flyers vs. Devils prediction

Will Philadelphia continue its improbable run toward the playoffs when it faces New Jersey? My Flyers vs. Devils prediction covers the best bets for the Eastern Conference showdown.

🔥 Best Oilers vs. Mammoth player prop bet

Connor McDavid Over 1.5 points (+100)

No, Leon, no worries for No. 97. While McDavid's production dropped in the last three games, this is the type of situation the captain usually thrives in. All eyes are on him to lift the Oilers to the Pacific Division crown.

Not only that, but McDavid is tied with Nikita Kucherov with 126 points as he chases another Art Ross Trophy. I also like the fact that McDavid notched at least two points in each of the five meetings with Utah, amassing 11.

I also backed him in my NHL player props today, along with three other picks.

📊 Live Oilers vs. Mammoth odds

🚀 Oilers vs. Mammoth same-game parlay

The parlay aligns with my predicted game script. The Oilers have clamped down defensively, allowing two or fewer in four of the previous six games.

While the Mammoth's offense exploded in the last three, scoring 19 goals, this should resemble a playoff-like encounter.

💡 How I'm betting Oilers vs. Mammoth

Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.

As the Oilers play on Wednesday in San Jose, I expect Tristan Jarry to get the nod. He has won two straight since late January and played well in the previous victory over the Mammoth.

With their recent emphasis on sound defensive play, the Oilers appear less vulnerable. As the Pacific Division is still, somewhat inexplicably, up for grabs, the Oilers will be hellbent on making it happen.

That's why I'm confident in them winning tonight, with the NHL's greatest player taking the lead. I'm not fully convinced on the Under, given the Oilers' defensive volatility, hence the half-unit play. Each unit is $10.
