Looking at Philadelphia's remaining schedule, it appears that tonight's contest at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., against the New Jersey Devils (7 p.m. ET, ESPN) comes close to a must-win affair.

That's one of a few reasons I'm backing the visitors in my Flyers vs. Devils prediction, which also includes a Jack Hughes player prop. The Flyers are the +105 betting underdog, but their desire to secure a playoff berth will propel them to a critical victory.

💰 Flyers vs. Devils prediction & best bet

Flyers ML (+105)

Belief in the Flyers' locker room is peaking at the opportune moment, and it reflects their 14-5-1 record in the previous 20 games. Only the Buffalo Sabres have a better points percentage since Feb. 26.

Let that sink in for a second.

While the Devils will be playing loose and stress-free, I don't see their compete level getting close to what Philly will produce.

If Dan Vladar plays as he has recently, allowing two or fewer in six of the previous nine, the Flyers will secure another critical victory in their pursuit of the playoffs.

Score prediction: Flyers 3, Devils 2 (+3000)

🔥 Best Flyers vs. Devils player prop bet

Jack Hughes Over 3.5 shots (-110)

If you're wondering what a golden goal at the Olympics can do to a player's confidence, Hughes leads the league with 36 points in 20 games since Feb. 25.

He has 13 points in the previous five games. I'm backing his shots prop because Vladar and the Flyers' defense are playing so well.

Hughes hasn't been denied recently in any facet, and he hit the Over on this total in six of the last seven and five straight. He's also fired at least four shots on goal in four consecutive games at Prudential Center.

💡 More NHL player props

I added four picks in my NHL player props today, which features three superstars and an in-form blueliner.

🚀 Flyers vs. Devils same-game parlay

The parlay aligns with my expected game script: The Flyers will win a low-scoring affair while absorbing some pressure on the road. Vladar is key to the parlay hitting, as he'll have to maintain his best to pull it off.

Hughes has been unstoppable, and while I don't expect him to fill the scoresheet with points, he should find enough space to register four shots.

💡 How I'm betting Flyers vs. Devils

Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.

I'm investing a full unit on each of the three picks. I'd be dubious about doing so on the 5.5-goal total at some of the other best sports betting sites, especially as these teams combined for 17 goals in the first two meetings.

The buffer at BetMGM helps, as a 4-2 victory also sounds feasible. Each unit is $10.
